A practicum where you actually get to learn group work.
We host a small number of PsyD and PhD trainees each year. The training is structured, the supervision is unhurried, and the caseload is built around what makes a good clinician — not what fills a billing target.
What the placement looks like.
Trainees see a mix of individual and group cases, with at least one ongoing process group from week one. You'll co-lead two groups in your first six months — usually one stress/burnout group and one mood-and-anxiety group — and progress into solo facilitation in the second half of the year.
Supervision.
Weekly individual supervision with a licensed clinical psychologist (LCP), plus a separate weekly group-process supervision. We use video review for at least one session per month. Your clinical writing is actually read.
Hours and cadence.
Most trainees are with us 16–24 hours per week for a 9–12 month placement. We're flexible on weekly schedule but firm on continuity — therapy groups are commitments, not drop-ins.
Stipend & logistics.
Practicum positions are partially funded; APA-accredited internship positions are stipended. Trainees from APPIC-affiliated programs are welcome.
What we look for
- Genuine curiosity about group process.
- Comfort sitting with discomfort — yours and others'.
- Multilingual ability is a real asset, not a tiebreaker.
- Respect for clients' time, language, and privacy.
